Probably Stolen Evaporator Guide: Drying Mixtures
Use the Probably Stolen evaporator with verified temperature and residue guidance, including the release hotfix for trace moisture and a stalled finisher.
Quick answer
The evaporator removes water, alcohol and Lipobond Agent without heating the mixture. Put the prepared mixture's container in its Container slot, supply power and check the composition after overnight processing. An unmodified machine removes up to 300 mL per night. If the Chem Finisher refuses a batch, check remaining wet ingredients and actual recipe volume, and account for the trace-moisture fix in version 1.0.0.5.
Understand what the evaporator does
An unmodified evaporator removes up to 300 mL per night, shared between water, alcohol and Lipobond Agent according to their presence in the container. Other components remain, and the process does not heat the mixture. Its job is therefore selective drying, not a substitute for every other chemistry operation. Evaporator reference · Technical machine guide
The Chemist start provides an evaporator. Other starts can obtain equipment through the chemistry-set or Retired Chemist route described by the guides. For the earlier preparation stages, follow the introductory chemistry chain. Access guidance · Starter equipment
Load and process a prepared mixture
- Prepare the mixture required by the recipe you are following.
- Put its container into the evaporator's Container slot.
- Supply power; the recorded sequence uses an energy cell.
- Leave the machine to process overnight.
- Inspect the resulting contents before transferring the container to the Chem Finisher.
The recorded sequence explicitly powers the evaporator, waits until the following day and then moves the container to the finisher. Overnight processing is a step in that sequence, not proof that every possible starting volume will be fully dry afterward. Compare the wet volume with the machine's documented throughput. Separate drying from solvent recovery
Removing liquid from the input and collecting that liquid are different functions. Quality governs the share of vapor recovered into a second container; without Quality, nothing is caught. The solvent-recovery module restricts recovery to alcohol, so do not equate every removed liquid with recovered solvent. Recovery behavior · Distillate-container explanation
If collection matters to your batch, check the distillate container separately from the input container. A falling input volume answers the drying question, while the receiving container answers the recovery question.
Check a refused finisher batch
| Symptom or question | What to check |
|---|---|
| Water, alcohol or Lipobond Agent remains | Compare the remaining quantity with overnight throughput. |
| Input volume falls but nothing is collected | Check recovery Quality and the separate distillate container. |
| A mixed-alcohol batch stalls on tiny water residue | Account for the 1.0.0.5 trace-moisture fix. |
| Dream Dust input appears close to 2 mL | Check the actual quantity; the recipe requires 2 mL per vial. |
These checks follow the machine reference, recipe-volume documentation and official 1.0.0.5 notes.
Important version and recipe questions
Does every trace of water still block the Chem Finisher?
That is not a current blanket rule. Hotfix 1.0.0.5 fixes a case where the evaporator left 1 µl of water in mixed-alcohol batches, costing another night and causing finisher refusal. The same patch says dry-input recipes now ignore trace moisture. Official fix · Patch-history summary
Can a near-2 mL scanner reading satisfy the recipe?
The documented display avoids rounding upward: since 1.0.0.5, 1996 µl reads as 1.99 mL, not 2.00 mL. Dream Dust requires 2 mL per vial, so a near-2 mL quantity is not the full required amount. Check volume separately from whether the mixture has finished drying. Scanner change · Recorded recipe requirement, 13:10
Should I use a heating-plate temperature on the evaporator?
No heating step belongs to the evaporator operation described here: it removes evaporating liquids without raising the container's temperature. Keep heating instructions with the heating stage of the chemistry guide, rather than treating them as evaporator settings. Technical evaporator description
Scope
The 300 mL figure describes the unmodified machine, and the exact current trace-moisture tolerance is not specified here. These instructions do not guarantee full overnight drying or successful finishing for an incorrectly composed batch. Sources checked November 2, 2026.
